Description
Spring washer: DIN 127 A2 stainless steel washer split at one point and spiral curved. This causes the washer to exert a spring force between the head of the fastener and the substrate, causing the washer to be pressed hard against the substrate and screw thread hard against the nut or substrate thread, creating more friction and rotational resistance.
USABILITY: Various split locking washers with metric size have a left spiral. This means that you can only use them with right-hand threaded screws to prevent clockwise vibration. When tightened, the uneven split ends bite into unhardened bolts and nuts to ensure a firmer grip than curved or shaft washers, but only for applications with clockwise rotation.
